Rue is Chinese. Alex is Jewish. This wedding was awesome.
This couple really wanted to include traditions from both of their backgrounds and they did it perfectly. It all began with Chinese door games that Alex and his guys had to play (including serenading Rue with one of my personal favorite songs – “All I Have to Give” by the incredible… Backstreet Boys). Rue dressed in very traditional Chinese wedding attire (with the most amazing hair I’ve ever seen!) and Alex wore his yamaka. The Van Dusen Garden ceremony began with the ringing of a gong, and included a Chinese tea ceremony and the construction of a Jewish Chuppah. Both Rue and Alex’s fathers performed the ceremony. This was one of the most personalized ceremony’s I’ve witnessed and the vows were no exception. (Mac and I are BIG fans of personal vows)
The reception, held at Seasons In the Park, was super fun. It began with a stand up comedy act by Alex’s brother, then the bridal party played a bunch of games, then everybody danced their pants off. Rue also had a full makeup/hair/dress change and looked (if possible) even more amazing then before!
Thank you Rue and Alex for including us in your big day – we had SO much fun! We wish you both the very best – congratulations!!
