Tegan + Dan | White Rock Wedding Highlights August 24, 2010 posted in Music,Video

This past weekend I was lucky enough to film Tegan and Dan Klenner’s wedding. Tegan and I have known each other since we learned to walk and talk. I went to church with her when we were toddlers and we went through kindergarden to grade 12 together. Needless to say, we go way back. Dan entered Tegan’s life a couple of years ago and they fell deeply in love pretty quickly. They both have a passion for music, art, Value Village and the Church, which makes them pretty much made for each other. I was so excited when I found out they were engaged that I jumped at the chance to film their wedding. I reached out to them and lucky for me they loved the idea.
This wedding was truly one of a kind. The vintage inspired theme was spread throughout the entire day with lots of feathers and beach cruisers (check out Tegan and her friend’s awesome vintage apparel and accessory company here). Tegan walked barefoot down the aisle for the backyard ceremony accompanied by music from Dan’s former band mates of Hey Ocean. So awesome! I’ve never been to a wedding with such amazing live music. Dan is an incredibly talented musician and has tons of friends in the Vancouver music scene (Hey Ocean, Said the Whale, We are the City, etc.)
Below is their highlight film. I hope you enjoy it.
Also a little side note… Laurell and Trevor’s Wedding Film was featured on the cover of Style Me Pretty Wedding Blog yesterday. Check it out here and leave some comments!

  • Maclean:

Thanks Nooner! Yeah they’re a couple who love all things vintage so I thought a vintage film grade would suite the film perfectly. Yeah man the slider is awesome. Well worth it.

Leslie Brown | Photography Promo August 18, 2010 posted in Photographer,Video

A while back Jamie Delaine asked me to cover a bridal fashion shoot that she had setup. It was so much fun, if you haven’t seen it check it out here. Once Jamie and I blogged the video I received a few interesting emails. One of which was a request to shoot a promotional video for the extremely talented photographer that is Leslie Brown. She told me she would be in Vancouver in June, so we setup a time to meet and had a great time walking through Yaletown getting some shots. Below is the finished promotional video.

Laurell + Trevor | Kelowna Wedding Trailer June 23, 2010 posted in Video

I met Laurell a few months ago when Jamie Delaine invited me to film a bridal fashion photo shoot with her. Laurell was one of the 4 stunning models and she had recently got engaged. You may know Laurell for her beautiful music. She is incredibly talented. If you haven’t heard her radio hit “Can’t Stop Falling” then you’ve CLEARLY been out of the loop for the past several months. (Check out her tunes here!)
So a while back I received an email from Laurell asking for us to film her and Trevor’s wedding day at the incredible God’s Mountain in Kelowna, BC. If you’ve been to Kelowna in the summer then you know how amazing the scenery is there and Laurell and Trevor’s wedding day was no exception. Their wedding was very intimate with about 40 of their closest friends and family members joining them.  Below is there wedding film trailer!

Photographed by Jamie Delaine – Check out her blog for some photos!

Bonny Jo & Joshua Trailer | Dallas, TX April 20, 2010 posted in News,Video

I met Joshua about a year and a half ago where we attended film school together in Vancouver. Halfway through the year I had the pleasure of spending time with his fiance Bonny-Jo when she came to visit. Joshua had mentioned that he was thinking about hiring me and flying me out to Dallas Texas to film their wedding. After working out the logistics he bought the tickets and it was booked! So fast forward 8 months and here we are. The wedding day finally came. I had never been to Dallas before so it was an awesome experience to see the city. I had such a fun time with this incredible couple. These two have an amazing story. They’ve known each other since they were in their young teenage years. Joshua had pursued Bonny for quite some time and once she fell for him they were inseparable.  Their unconditional love for each other is so apparent when you see them together and their wedding day truly reflected that. It was also one of THE funnest weddings I’ve been to. They really wanted their quests to have a fun time and they truly succeeded.
Dallas Texas is usually a warm and sunny place this time of year and up until a few days before the wedding that was the forecast. But on the wedding day the clouds threatened to change plans but Joshua and Bonny-Jo were determined and willed the rain away. The rain held off long enough for the photo shoot but once the ceremony started the rain had begun. At this point their was no turning back and to tell you the truth I’m glad it rained. To see this couple surrounded by their family and closest friends, declaring they’re love for each other in the poring rain was just amazing.
I’d like to give a special thanks to Bonny-Jo and Joshua for flying me out to be apart of this amazing wedding and to meet their amazing friends and family.
Below is a short trailer of their wedding day.
I had such a fun time shooting this wedding along with the photographer Tara Swain. Check out her site!
  • Josiah Tam:

WOW. Dude that just gave me chills. The first scene with him just waiting was so good. And then when he turned around and it switched to the firecrackers. Only one word describes it: epic.

It was so suspenseful will Josh like what he’ll see when he turns around? I can’t wait to pay 9.75 for my ticket to watch the The Epic Wedding.

  • Maclean:

I love love love the flow of Joshua and Bonny dancing on the porch. I can’t believe how great the sound and picture quality is. Some of the vows were hard to hear at the ceremony, but perfectly clear on here. Great job. I may have to fly you down here myself someday when I get married!

  • Bonny Jo:

My oh my I love you. That was amazing. So well done. I love how you captured the heartfelt and fun moments and put them together. Love the song. I am big on music and I love it. Wedding Season is almost here! March 08, 2010 posted in Music,News,Video, random

So first off… The Oscars were on last night. Did you watch it? It’s a long running tradition for my family to get together and fill out our ballots of what films we think will win. Unfortunately I didn’t get the most right but I did predict best picture and best director. If you haven’t seen The Hurt Locker yet you should asap!

Secondly I’ve been going none stop lately! I’ve taken on a handful of off season none wedding related projects and I haven’t had much time to rest. I think I’m juggling about 6 projects but I’m really enjoying all of them. The wedding season is fast approaching and I couldn’t be more excited! Especially because I get to kick off the season with a wedding in Texas! So fun! Below is a quick iPhone snapshot of the camera’s POV while shooting an interview for one of my projects.

PS… current jam I’ve been listening to… “New Theory” by Washed Out

Bridal Fashion Shoot February 10, 2010 posted in Photographer,Video

A few weeks ago I got a call from my friend Jamie Delaine about a project. She had been planning a fashion shoot with Bisou Bridal and invited me to come and film it! She gave me the low down of how there were going to be 4 models and they’d be modelling beautiful dresses from Bisou Bridal and rocking some incredible flower arrangements by Balconi Floral. Better yet, she asked my beautiful girlfriend Erin to be one of the models! Needless to say I was in.
So 2 weeks ago we arrived downtown at the Bisou Bridal shop at the crack of 7am to begin hair and makeup. Everyone clicked right away and were friends in no time. The first location was at the Sutton Place Hotel. Jamie had reserved a beautiful ballroom for us to shoot in and it was incredible. We had such a fun time and all of the models looked stunning! Then the inevitable Vancouver winter rain arrived so for an outdoor location we headed for under the burrard street bridge. The clouds covering offered some really beautiful light and it turned out great. Then we ended the day back at Bisou Bridal to get some shots inside the store. Check out the video below to see it all for yourself.

Also check out all the vendors that were involved! They’re amazing!

Beach Day December 14, 2009 posted in Personal,Video, random

I’m looking outside and I am so pumped there is snow on the ground. I can’t believe Christmas is only 11 days away! And then it’s practically 2010 and the new wedding season will begin! I can’t wait. 2010 will be a very exciting year… the Olympics, some amazing weddings and some exciting trips.

I’ve been looking forward to the Christmas season for some time. I’m that guy who puts up his Christmas decorations and lights waaay too early. As soon as halloween is over I put them up. I can’t help it I just love the season.

The recent snow fall has been a relief of some crummy rain. A few weeks ago the sun broke out and I decided to head to the beach and throw together a quick montage. I was mainly trying out some new lenses for my camera but I thought I’d post it for your viewing pleasure.

  • Maclean:

haha yeah I can’t wait too. So stoked! We’ll have to think up something crazy to get the youth stoked!

Where have we been? December 09, 2009 posted in News,Personal,Video

Over the part year I’ve been incredibly busy. After our last wedding of the 2008 season, I started my film production program at Vancouver Film School. It was a 12-month film program focusing on all aspects of filmmaking. It was a very intense workload and demanded a lot of my time but I was able to squeeze in a few jobs here and there which was awesome.
I was fortunate enough to have my script selected to be made and I was also chosen to direct my film. I had an amazing year and learned so much and made some life long friendships. I was so fortunate to meet so many people in the business. I graduated this past October and since then I’ve returned to full time wedding filmmaking.
So that brings me to now… we’re currently booking up the 2010 wedding season so if you have a wedding coming up, let us know!  We also have some exciting stuff coming up with some local vendors so be sure to check back to see it on the blog!
Check out the video of some past weddings.

  • Josiah Tam:

again, I’m loving the promo! Is there anywhere that we can view this film you directed? I’m dying to see it!

    2009.Dec.10 1:53 pm

  • jamie delaine:

Sweet job on this buddy! I love the new promo video and the new site. Hopefully we eventually get to work together!
