When we first met Jon and Tash about a year ago, Tash was… a little stressed about the wedding. I immediately loved and understood Tash (planning your own wedding compared to shooting other peoples? Not at ALL the same. Planning is the worst!). BUT you would never have known on the day that Tash had stressed for a second – it was perfect! Both the ceremony and reception were held at Brix Restaurant in Yaletown – the ceremony in the courtyard and the reception inside. Bea-utiful decor, awesome food, solid dance crowd. Nuff said. This wedding was FU-UN!

We love love loved this couple and had the most fun shooting their wedding day. These two have so much heart and are madly in love, as their film shows.

Thank you Jon and Tash so much – we had an amazing time and hope you find your wedding film captures just how beautiful and fun your wedding was.

This wedding was something else. Exactly what I imagine Beauty and the Beast’s future wedding to be (after the Beast changed back into a man of course). The ceremony and reception were both at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, and the reception was in the big ballroom, the one I already refer to as the Beauty-and-the-Beast room – and so it begins.

Everything about Rebecca was Belle-like to me: her hair, her face, her dress and her flowers (red roses). Also Belle and (Man)Beast-like was this couple’s ability to dance. Amazing! They made a new years resolution last year to learn to dance and man oh man did they do that. It was really beautiful. I would never have guessed they hadn’t been ballroom dancing their whole lives.

The ceremony was really personalized which I LOVE. They said their own vows and included a number of Jewish traditions (Rebecca is Jewish)- like the glass breaking! The best part was just watching these two, it was as if no one else was there but them. That’s the very best kind of ceremony.

The reception (besides being held in my favorite ballroom in all of Vancouver) was decorated beautifully! Red roses, candles, mirrors, open bar… Good wedding!

My favorite part of the whole day was 12:00am. At that time the couple was being lifted up on chairs, as per the Jewish wedding tradition, while everyone was dancing and wearing new years hats and crowns – HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Two days before we left for California we shot a really cool wedding in Vancouver – Alice and Tristan’s.

My first time meeting Alice was on her wedding day during her hair and makeup and I learned a lot about her in that time:
1) She is super hilarious but you really have to listen because her tone NEVER changes (which makes it all ten times more funny);
2) She doesn’t like makeup; but
3) She LOVES pandas!
I laughed like crazy when she asked her make up artist to do a more dramatic smokey-eye so she could look like a panda! At first I thought I had misheard her cause she said it so matter-of-factly but I misheard nothing- that was her request! And it looked great!

Alice and Tristan got married in the Celebration Pavilion at Queen Elizabeth Park. It was perfectly clear but FREEZING! (Obviously you can’t see the temperature in the film so I thought I would fill you in on that little tidbit). About 50 guests and it was so sweet! Their reception followed at Season’s in the Park. The food was great, the speeches were funny and the couple gave their guests a giant bag of favours each! What more can you ask for? SOLID wedding. My favourite part was the chalk speech bubbles the couple had for guests to take photo’s with – so creative!

Congratulations Tristan and Alice – your wedding was so beautiful and we had such a fun time! We wish you the best as you begin your new life together back up in the interior!

So this past summer, Mikaela and Shane contacted us about making a ‘love story’ type film to tell the story of how they got engaged. We were thrilled to shoot one and were very excited to hear how Shane popped the question. Mikaela then sent me a link to a post on her blog and my jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe it… Shane recreated their first date at a starbucks… in the woods! SO cool! We were amazed how he thought of every little detail! Naturally we met up with them at a Starbucks to talk more about their relationship and how they got together. There is so much more behind the elaborate setup and we couldn’t wait to tell their story in this engagement film.

There were two things Kaelin was set on for her day – 1. They were going to have a first look at Crescent Beach and 2. It was GOING to be sunny for that first look. She got both! When the boys came to pick up the girls in the limo, Erick wore a blindfold so they could wait to have their first look at the beach. My favourite part about this was that Kaelin did NOT have to wear a blindfold and she reminded Erick of this saying “You can’t see me!” (in that singsongy way a kid would taunt another kid on the playground) as she stood right in front of his face hahaha!

Kaelin and Erick were married at Minoru Chapel in Richmond. Not only is this church the cutest little church you’ve ever seen, but Kaelin’s parents were also married in it! So special! The reception followed at Mayfair Lakes Golf and Country Club and it was gorgeous! Kaelin planned her pants off and it paid off! My favourite part of the reception was their cake – I LOVED this cake. I did not eat any of this cake, but it looked so pretty! I did however eat my favour which was sugar cookies in the shape of a wedding cake – oh man. I get sad when I remember I can never eat one again… so good.

Kaelin and Erick you day was SO beautiful and SO much fun! Thank you so much for including us – we had so much fun with you both and wish you the very best in your lives together! Congratulations!

While dating is usually a really light and fun time, the majority of this couple’s dating life was spent in hospitals. BoBo’s father had been diagnosed with cancer and actually passed away 2 months before the wedding. BoBo’s mother was in the hospital so sick with cancer that she was unable to make the trip to Canada for the wedding. (She also just recently passed away as well…)

BoBo is very sweet and soft spoken. She is absolutely beautiful.
WoWo (or Tin as I know him) is also very sweet and always looks out for others. He takes wonderful care of BoBo.

Their wedding was incredible. They both love nature and so decided to get married outside of an old mansion on a golf course on the water in Harrison Mills, BC. It drizzled right until the ceremony began and then stopped just until it ended. Not one word of english was spoken during the ceremony but it still took everything in me not to cry. Just watching this couple was enough to know that they have a different kind of love. Like a different level of love that you can’t reach until you’ve been though something tragic together.

The best and most difficult part of the wedding was just before the reception. WoWo had arranged for one of his friends to play a song for BoBo on the piano. This song meant a lot to the couple because it helped them get though all of their hard times. It was the one song that they would put on repeat and listen to until they fell asleep when they were just too tired to try anymore. If that wasn’t hard enough, when it came time for the vocals in the song (which was mostly “oooh’s”), their friends, scattered all over the room, joined in and started singing. I lost it. You could not NOT feel. Everyone was crying. I’m crying writing this. The song was beautiful.

I’ve never been so happy for a couple before. This couple deserves each other. This couple deserves happiness.

BoBo and WoWo – we feel so honoured that we got to be a part of your wedding day. We are so blessed to have met you and to have heard your story. We hope that your wedding film was able to capture the love, sorrow and joy that we experienced on your day. Congratulations and may your future be filled with nothing but joy.

Rebecca sings opera. Rebecca LOVES opera. Rebecca’s wedding HAD opera singers for entertainment! The theme of the wedding was Venice and it was GORGEOUS! The greenhouse was tented top to bottom in fabric, there were trees and gardens, a fountain, wine tasting and all italian food! I’m doing my best to explain exactly what it was like – but you have to SEE it to understand!

Rebecca and Evan – we are so excited for you both and had so much fun being a part of your day. We wish you the best! Congratulations!

My favourite part about this wedding was that the couple had a traditional Korean ceremony as well. This was brand new to us and really cool to see! Jenny and Ed disappeared during cocktail hour to change for this event and they seemed to be gone forever! – when you see the video you will see why – they had to put on these enormous costumes! So fun!

Aside from all the beauty and fun, there was a lot of emotion at this wedding as Jenny’s father had recently passed away. It is so sad to me when a brides father cannot be with her on her wedding day, but it also makes me so unbelievably happy for her that she has found the man of her dreams and is going to be with him for the rest of her life! You could really tell- Ed LOVES Jenny and Jenny LOVES Ed. And now they are married. A very happy ending.

We had such a good time working with the gang at Blue Olive Photography! Can’t wait to see their photos!

First impressions: The couple came to pick us up at the airport when we arrived in Edmonton. While Cam (the groom) waited in the car, Megan (the bride) came in to get us. All I knew about this couple is that both were lawyers. Naturally I was scanning the airport for a very serious looking woman with a subtle up-do, a grey or black pantsuit and sensible, black high heels. Then I heard “Hi guys!” from across baggage claim. I looked up to see this blonde bombshell with big hair, a tight, bright pink, ruffled dress and super high heels! Not the lawyer I was expecting. WAY better. Then we met Cam. Another not-what-you-would-expect lawyer. Cam has facial hair. Cam looks adorably young for his age. Cam loves the environment. Cam REALLY loves sharks. Cam will save all the sharks.

Besides being an incredibly smart and good looking couple, Megan and Cam are very passionate about helping the environment and helping people. They’re one of those couples that make you feel like you’ve known them forever when you first meet them. It was obvious to us that Megan and Cam are the type of couple that everyone wants a piece of. WE want a piece of them! Megan had 4 very attentive and sweet bridesmaids supporting her all day while Cam had 6 groomsmen and one German doctor supporting him. Their friends really went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect for them and did everything from bringing them snacks to working crowd control at the first-look location.

This wedding was beautiful. The ceremony took place in the foyer of the law building at the University of Alberta where they both went to law school. The isle was lined with balls of baby’s breath (Megan brought it BACK) and feathers (which looked awesome AND got stuck to everyone’s shoes-including the grooms-which made it extra entertaining for sure!). An excerpt from the children’s book ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’ was read, and the couple exchanged really heart felt vows that made the ceremony that much more special. The reception later followed at the Mayfair Golf and Country Club. Unfortunately for you, you won’t get to see any of the reception as there was SO much heart in this wedding that we couldn’t even fit the reception into the highlights!

Megan and Cam – we had an INcredible time at your wedding and loved getting to know you. Please call ANYtime you come to Vancouver and we will show you around our giant town. We wish you both all the best in your marriage and in your efforts to save the environment… and sharks.

I’ve never been further east than Saskatchewan (and that was on another family adventure on which I did nothing but read Harry Potter as the books had JUST come out) and Mac has skipped over to Montreal but never been IN Manitoba- so this was a first for both of us! Can I just say, Winnipeg is highly underrated. Granted, this wedding was about 2 hours out of the city in Falcon Lake, but the location was BE-AUTIFUL! Giant lake with islands all over it and not a SINGLE mosquito to be found!

This was probably the most unique wedding we’ve ever been to and I can tell you why- Christel (the bride) is an artist slash photographer slash jewellery designer slash GOLDSMITH! This girl can do it ALL. Joey (the groom) is an engineer by day and a farmer by weekend and can fix just about anything. Total side note – in the slide show there were more than a couple of pictures of Joey either sitting on a hay bail or rocking a mullet. Loved it!

The ceremony was outside right on the lake where the bride rolled up in a canoe with her dad! SO cute! Each guest was given a piece of ribbon which they were invited to tie onto a string that ran around the ceremony to signify everyone joining together in support for the couple. While the brides dress was designed and made by her friend, she made her OWN wedding jewellery AND designed both of their rings! I told you – she can do it ALL!

We had so much fun at this wedding and were so impressed by all the creativity! Christel and Joey – thank you so much for inviting us to capture your day – we had SO much fun and will pump Manitoba to anyone who will listen ha! Congratulations!
